Why doesn’t my light pen work on my new Lap Top with a LCD Monitor?
When my computer comes out of hibernation, my light pen no longer responds. Why does this happen?
1. Refer to the Hardware Installation section provided in the Quick Start or the Installation Manual available on the Installation CD.
2. LCD, flat panel technology is not compatible with light pen designs. There are no pointing devices, similar to light pens, available for LCD/Flat Panel monitors. Many Lap Tops, however, have a provision for connecting an external CRT monitor with which the light pen will be fully functional.
3. A light pen must have light input from the monitor screen in order to function properly. A black screen indicates the absence of light. Change your background color to colors that provide good input for light pens. The most favorable is blue, but grays and whites work quite well. Experiment with the colors until you are satisfied with a pleasing background color.
4. This symptom generally occurs when the interface adapter is not receiving proper “sync” signals from the Video card via the Sync Cable. Make sure connections and connectors are functional (Refer to Hardware Installation).
5. First verify that your computer supports USB devices (Refer to the computer documentation). If it does, then you may purchase a USB board and install it in a motherboard slot. Then connect the USB light pen adapter output to the new board.
6. Yes it does. The light pen/adapter is designed to work on both USB 1.X and USB 2.0 ports.
7. Contact our Tech Support department for replacement of the software package.
8. This is a known issue with USB ports in the Microsoft Windows 2K/XP Operating System. You may resolve this issue by obtaining the latest Service Pack from their WEB site or from their Customer Support Line.
9. For Windows 2000 and XP, Microsoft added this feature to give an assurance that Microsoft has verified the integrity of a driver. This assurance is unnecessary when installing the light pen software. Therefore, simply set the button in the Driver Signing window to Ignore, and proceed with the installation of the software.
